Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative installed a photovoltaic system to provide our members with real time data and accurate information about solar
systems. This system is located at our Billy E. Brown Corporate Center in Dade City. The system is a 3.15kw ground mounted system with 175 watt Sun Module
Panels.
A PV system converts sunlight directly into electricity. This energy is used by the member, and any excess energy can be sold back to WREC through its
net metering program.
A net meter is a special meter that runs backwards when more energy is being generated than is being used. If a member generates more than they use over
the course of a year WREC will purchase any excess energy generated at its wholesale power providers avoided costs. Currently that rate is 5.1 cents per
kilowatt hour.
Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative does not install or supply PV Systems, but only provides an interconnection to the electric utility grid.
